Mount Ajdahak is one of the extinct volcanoes of Armenia, which last erupted about 4,000 years ago. It is the highest point of the Gegham mountain range, with a height of 3,597 meters above sea level. It is the fourth highest mountain in modern Armenia, after Aragats, Kaputjugh, and Siskatar. A water-filled crater—an unnamed small lake—is located at the summit of the mountain. From the top of the volcano, a landscape view opens up to Mounts Ararat, Hatis, Ara, Aragats, and Lake Sevan. In Armenian mythology, Ajdahak is a man-dragon (vishap).
